Veteran singer, songwriter, and musician Jim Lauderdale is an American icon. A major inspiration to Bluegrass, Country, and Americana artists that have followed in his wake, Lauderdale may not have scaled the heights of the Billboard charts as an artist, but his influence has loomed large ever since he first came to prominence in the late 1980s. However, his musical journey began many years before he landed his first record deal. Raised on Country Music and Bluegrass, he began writing his own songs and moved to Nashville in 1979 in order to land a publishing or record deal. His quest led him to both New York and Los Angeles and introduced him to fellow artists including Buddy Miller, Lucinda Williams, Billy Bremner, Pete Anderson, and many others.

As a writer, Jim Lauderdale’s songs were recorded by a variety of artists including George Strait, Vince Gill, Elvis Costello, The Dixie Chicks, Patty Loveless, Lee Ann Womack, Mark Chesnutt, Blake Shelton, and many others.  Lauderdale released his debut solo album, PLANET OF LOVE, in 1991. While not a huge commercial success, his songwriting talents did not go unnoticed by critics, musicians, and music fans alike. The album was followed by over two dozen acclaimed albums including PRETTY CLOSE TO THE TRUTH (1994), ONWARD THROUGH IT ALL (1999), the Grammy-winning LOST IN THE LONESOME PINES with Ralph Stanley (2002), PATCHWORK RIVER (2010), CAROLINA MOONRISE (2012), TIME FLIES (2018), HOPE (2021), and THE LONG AND LONESOME LETTING GO (2023).

Jim Lauderdale returns in 2024 with the album MY FAVORITE PLACE on the Sky Crunch Records label. Throughout the album, he remains as authentic as ever. Eschewing any trappings of modern Top 40 Country Music, Jim Lauderdale continues to bring real heart and soul to his music. From the title track to “Sweethearts Remember” and “Don’t You Treat ‘Em That Way” to “The Lightning Tree” and “You’ve Got a Shine,” MY FAVORITE PLACE blends Americana with Rock, Bluegrass, Country Swing, and pure Country Music, creating a musical palette that only Jim Lauderdale can create. His honesty ensures that this is as real as it gets and isn’t a standard paint-by-numbers Country album. It’s not a surprise that Jim Lauderdale nails it again with MY FAVORITE PLACE. He remains at the top of his game after all these years.
