Born in Alexandria, Virginia, singer and songwriter Neko Case is known for her critically acclaimed series of solo albums as well as her work with Indie Rock collective The New Pornographers. She is also a perfect musical collaborator, and she can be heard on many albums that have been released since she arrived on the music scene nearly three decades ago. Her musical journey began when she was in her teens. The daughter of an archaeologist, she left home at 15 and three years later, she was playing drums in a Punk band. Moving to Vancouver, Canada in 1994, Neko continued to drum for several more bands including Cub and Maow. However, the best was yet to come…

By the end of the ‘90s, she had befriended a collective of musicians that became The New Pornographers. Adding her vocals to a few of their recordings, the group’s critically acclaimed debut album MASS ROMANTIC (2000) brought Neko to the attention of critics and music fans and she hasn’t looked back since. The New Pornographers released a series of successful albums – including TOGETHER (2010), BRILL BRUISERS (2014), and WITHOUT CONDITIONS (2017) – while she launched her solo career with the release of the album THE VIRGINIAN (1997), recorded as Neko Case & Her Boyfriends. She continued to release a series of hit solo albums including FOX CONFESSOR BRINGS THE FLOOD (2006), MIDDLE CYCLONE (2009), THE WORSE THINGS GET, THE HARDER I FIGHT, THE HARDER I FIGHT, THE MORE I LOVE YOU (2013), and HELL-ON (2018).

Neko Case’s amazing solo career is the focus of the 2023 compilation album WILD CREATURES, which features 23 tracks spanning her entire solo career. This is the perfect introduction to her career for the uninitiated, yet it also serves as a perfect addition to long-time fans’ collections since it includes one new song, “Oh, Shadowless.” Apart from the musical riches on WILD CREATURES, you’ll also find liner notes featuring essays from the likes of Garbage’s Shirley Manson and The New Pornographers’ A.C Newman as well as comments from David Byrne, M. Ward, Mayim Bialik, Rosanne Cash, Jason Isbell, Jeff Tweedy, The Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray, Destroyer’s Dan Bejar, and The Muffs’ Ronnie Barnett.  Featuring Case classics such as “I Wish I Was the Moon,” “Hold On, Hold On,” “This Tornado Loves You,” and “Star Witness,” WILD CREATURES is one of the most important albums of the year.
